DESING OPPORTUNITY
Stats show that it is common these days to see couples living in different cities or travelling frequently for work trips and therefore being separated for periods of time.
However they do often take holidays together - and look forward to these trips of reuniting. The anticipation of being together again and going on holiday, became the focus for this scenario.
How can we create a build up of expectation induced by a machine, this machine could build a sense of excitement associated with travel. The anticipation for the countdown is parallel to the anticipation of the next trip or time together.
WHAT IS ECLIPSE?
Eclipse is a shared Digital to Physical Window Experience that is connected to your phone and home. It counts down to a significant event, providing exciting experiential content around the event.
It is designed for couples living apart who have planned a trip together. The experience builds a sense of excitement associated with travel by focusing on something (itinerary plan via chosen interests) they can look forward together.
What is important is that it builds excitement in an unexpected and engaging manner and is a shared experience they can make time for, despite their busy lifestyles.

starting with paper wireframes
moving to digital projection for a window, project a window at home

refining the window and using the laser cutter
replacing the laser cut outs for digital silhouettes

TESTING - feedback for iterations
We were testing daily, taking in feedback and making changes to our designs. But what I learnt is that this is really an ongoing process and so the end is not necessarily singular.
Prototyping and feedback are 2 sides of the same coin.
